Flight Times

Your flight time to Los Angeles will of course depend on where you’re departing from, but with so many airlines offering direct flights, you should be able to get there relatively easily.

From other West Coast cities such as Seattle, the flight will take around two and a half hours, whereas flights from the East Coast such as New York will take more like six hours, with flights from across the country generally falling somewhere between this range.

The Airport(s)

The major airport in Los Angeles is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), although smaller airports serve other nearby areas such as the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, Long Beach and Orange County.


Los Angeles International (LAX)

LAX Airport is located about 19 miles to the south-west of Downtown Los Angeles. The majority of international and domestic flights into L.A. arrive here, and there are a number of options for onward travel.

The regular FlyAway bus service runs seven days a week between the airport and Irvine, Union Station, Van Nuys and Westwood, or the long distance Roadrunner Shuttle will take you further afield to Simi Valley, Ventura County or Santa Barbara.

You can also catch the Metro Green Line from the airport which mainly serves the city’s suburbs.

Of course, you can also take a taxi to get directly to your destination, but don’t expect it to be cheap!
