Here’s everything you’ll need to know when it comes to flying to Beijing from the US, including flight times, entry requirements and airlines.

Flight Times

Direct flights from the US to Beijing will vary in length depending on where you’re flying from, but you can expect a direct flight to take between 12 and 15 hours.

Entry Requirements

US citizens traveling to China need to obtain a visa prior to their arrival and have a passport with at least six months’ validity.

Visitors must also register with the Chinese Public Security Bureau within 24 hours of arrival, and your hotel staff should be able to help you with this.

The Airport(s)

While there is currently a second international airport (Beijing Daxing) currently under construction, at the moment it is only served by one, Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK).

Beijing Airport is located about 20 miles northeast of downtown Beijing and is one of the busiest airports in the world.

The airport is linked to the city by the Airport Expressway motorway, which is about a 40-minute drive from the city center in a taxi which should cost around the ¥150 mark (about $22).

There’s also a light rail service which connects to the city’s subway system, with stops at Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen.

A one-way trip usually takes around 16-20 minutes and costs ¥25 (about $3.60).

There’s also a regular bus service which offers routes to various points around the city and costs ¥16 ($2.30).
